Vaccine against BVD – Bovine Virus Diarrheahttps://bodaxvet.com/
Thanks to L2D technology (live double deleted), the new BVD vaccine Bovela offers effective and safe protection against BVDV type 1 and additionally BVDV type 2. With just one shot, Bovela® offers year-round protection – in all cattle from 3 months of age; if possible, vaccinate 3 weeks before insemination to ensure protection over the entire period of pregnancy. This means that the birth of PI calves due to transplacental infection can be effectively prevented if vaccinated in time 3 weeks before insemination. The vaccination of entire herds, regardless of reproductive status, is also possible on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the doctor.®

Vaccinate only healthy animals.
To ensure the protection of animals that are introduced into a herd where BVDV circulates, vaccination must be completed 3 weeks before introduction.

The most important measures in the eradication of bovine viral diarrhea (BVD) are the identification and eradication of persistently infected animals. The reliable diagnosis of persistent infection can be made only after another blood test at intervals of at least three weeks. In molecular diagnostic tests, BVDV vaccine strain-positive ear punches were indicated in a limited number of newborn calves. Additional laboratory tests to distinguish the vaccine virus strain from field virus are available.

The field studies to test the efficacy of the vaccine were conducted in herds where persistently infected animals were removed.
